A lubricating grease is made up of a base oil, additives and a thickener, each with its own specific properties. It is therefore possible to make an incredible number of different types of combinations and therefore there are also many different types of lubricating greases.
With regard to lubricating greases, it is important to be attentive and critical when a different type of grease is used than before in an application. The (theoretical) table below can be used to determine whether or not this leads to problems due to whether or not different greases can be mixed.
The table shows that certain types of greases are absolutely incompatible with each other and can therefore cause enormous damage. Your machine or your production and therefore your operational management. What is or is not the mixability of greases is mainly determined by the type of thickener in the grease.
